Disneyland Paris

Disneyland Paris is the most important experience in my whole life. I always say it begins in France. Being a globe traveler was never something I dreamed of, but now it became part of my life. This all begins with Disneyland Paris. This was a present from my family and it was the first family trip outside our home country. I had a chance to spend 3 days in Disneyland Paris by staying in one of the Disney hotels in the area.

Many people ask me what I did 3 days just in Disneyland. Some people will tell you to go there for a single day, but believe me it is not possible for you to experience Disney just on a single day. On 2016, just after 15 years I had a chance to visit Disneyland Paris once again. I had my most emotional day. Just I step in, I remember all the things on my first experience, I remember how I was trying to convince my family about buying things, I remember how I was scared of getting into some rids, I remember everything. But this time, I was grown up and I had hesitations about what I am a going to do there. Interestingly, again one day was not enough and I visited there twice on my week in Paris.

How to reach & Travelling around

There are two main options. You can either stay in one of the hotels in Disneyland or you can prefer to use RER A line from Paris city center which will take you just in front of Disneyland. Train departures are really often and if you buy the Paris transportation card covering all zones, your Disneyland roundtrip ticket will be also included in it. That will be the cheapest and most convenient option.

If you prefer staying in Disney Village, you have three options. You can stay in official Disney hotels (Hotel Santa Fe, Hotel Cheyenne, Sequoia Lodge, Newport Bay Club, Hotel New York and Disneyland Hotel). Once you stay in these hotels, your daily pass visiting parks are already included. Depending on which you stay, you can either prefer walking or use the free shuttle service hotels offering. The most expensive one is Disneyland Hotel. It is just located in the entrance of park. If you have children, I really recommend you to stay 1-2 days to have a better Disney experience. Second option is staying in Disney partner hotels and last option is staying other hotels nearby. Last option may be seen the cheapest option, but mostly they do not include daily tickets. Considering daily ticket pp is around 80 EUR, your cheapest option may not be the cheapest at all.

I have one more recommendation not many people are aware of: Download Disneyland Paris App! It will show all the rides, shops, restaurants on a map; but more important it will also show you the estimated waiting time of each ride. By following updates, you can minimize your waiting time. Sometimes, temporary shutdowns may occur, so eventually if there is a shutdown, most people will leave the area and if you are following via your application, you may not to wait at all. In 2002, there was eventually no app such like this, so that was one of the biggest differences between 15 years.

If you are visiting Disneyland in winter, be aware that sometimes special tickets are being released on sale online. They are valid on certain days in certain time period. You may get a good deal such as 30 EUR rather than 80 EUR which I believe it will make you happier.

What to do

What to do really depends on how old you are and what kind of activities you are looking for. So, it may not be logical to categorize rides. Just know that park consists of two areas: Disneyland Paris & Walt Disney Studios. Sometimes people forget that there is another area called Walt Disney Studios and they forgot to visit Studios.

Your ticket allows you unlimited access between theme parks. So, you can first visit Disneyland Paris, then go Walt Disney Studios and return back to Disneyland Paris. This is mostly not common in other theme parks in the world, so that’s a good benefit which makes your day flexible. But know that you have to arrange more time for Disneyland Paris and all the events (celebrations, parades, and activities) are in Disneyland area.

I don’t want to approach about how to visit Disneyland like an engineer as I am, but there are really two best options to visit Disneyland. Disneyland Paris consists of 4 land areas and 1 main street. Frontierland, Discoveryland, Fantasyland, Adventureland are the lands constructed in Disneyland Paris. Each land area has its own unique characteristics. You may either complete all the rides in one land, continue to other one or you may select your must-do rides before you come Disneyland and first use that specific rides. That’s really up to you.

  • Here are my favorite spots in Disneyland Paris & Walt Disney Studios:
  • Big Thunder Mountain – Frontierland
  • It’s a Small World – Fantasyland
  • Mad Hatter’s Tea Cups – Fantasyland
  • Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain – Discoveryland (formerly Space Mountain)
  • Pirates of the Caribbean – Adventureland
  • Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril – Adventureland

I have seen many people returning earlier from Disneyland Paris to their hotel to spend their evening in Paris. That’s really one of the worst things you can do to yourself, because the best part in Disneyland begins after all the rides are closed. I am not sure whether it happens every night, but I was lucky enough to experience the amazing show every single day I was there. Here, I am referring to 5 amazing evenings. So what is amazing? Well, it was a fireworks show and a magical parade with some cars equipped with lights in 2002 and it is currently again a fireworks show empowered with technology. Below there is a video which is part of the 45 minutes show and I believe that 1 minute video is long enough to attract you…
